School Visits

Teachers can plan a trip to the Staten Island Children's Museum. Our programs encompass science, language arts, social studies and the arts. Students learn through their experience, generated by their own curiosity and excitement.

Everything you always wanted to know about a class visit!

• Conducted Mondays through Fridays
• Are scheduled 10-11:15, 11:30-12:45 or 1-2:15.
• Includes an educator to lead your class.
• Are geared to your class's grade.
• Includes a space for eating bag lunches (11:30 and 1:00 programs).
• Includes materials for use before or after your visit.
• Includes a teacher evaluation.
• Are hands-on, encourage critical thinking and are standard based.

Group Visits:

Schools, Scout Groups, Afterschool Groups, Clubs, Organizations.

Professional Development

Teachers and administrators: please take advantage of us, use us in the best possible way.  Tell us what you need and how we can help.  We are a complement to what you do and we are always willing and eager to work with you to meet your goals.  We offer orientations and familiarization tours for pre-service and in-service teachers, in-school residencies, grant partnerships, UPK relationships, and outreach programs.  Need a space for meetings, training, or staff development? Have a great idea that is so "out-of-the-box" you're not sure you can make it happen? We can help you make it happen.  Run it past our Director of Education at 718-273-2060 ext 265 who will be happy to work with you. Department of Education personnel are invited to visit the Museum at any time at no charge for a personalized visit.

Museum in a Suitcase

Can't get to us? We'll come to you! Museum in a Suitcase offers the opportunity for a museum educator to bring a traveling version of Bugs and Other Insects to your school. Hands-on activities and all necessary materials make the presentation come alive. Call for cost and availability.
